“Two is better than one,” a maxim I’m fairly certain the one gentleman in the one image above would attest to. “One is the loneliest number …” You could go on and on and on with references to one, some negative, some positive. “We’re number one!” So shouts the home team. “To be one with one’s self.” Now were getting into the abstract.
One wonders whether or not pondering such things is just an exercise in intellectual futility or whether or not there’s some practical lesson that can be learned. Usually we can’t quite grasp the empirical implications of oneness until we’re face to face knee deep in it. Although I didn’t get the chance to ask, something tells me that the gentleman above probably has a more blunt, less lofty and singular take on the number one.
