Weekly Photo Challenge: Spring

Frühling! Printemps! Primavera! Wiosna! ربيع! 春! Call it what you will, Spring is that special time of year most people associate with blooming flowers, youth, the slow death of Winter and the waking yawn of Summer! Well, I’m a one track mind obsessive kinda guy who, if you ask what the first thing to come to mind is when you think of Spring, without hesitation I will blurt out “FRESH DILL!!!” Weird? Maybe, but I love me some freshly plucked dill.

Ok, you’re probably saying it had something to do with the “fresh” part, or the fact that it’s green (a color usually associated with Spring) To me dill tastes like Spring with its lemony zing and crunchy, soft-needle-like texture. A lot of folks usually associate dill with fish dishes or as an accent to their Wintery sour cream and baked potatoes. Not me! I can’t limit myself to the basics. If I’m feeling frigid and all February like, I’ll put it in just about anything; eggs, soup, sandwhiches, any number of sauces, heck even pancakes. Have you ever had savory pancakes seasoned with fresh dill and a good crumbled feta? That stuff makes me feel like its May. Think I’m wrong? Next time you’ve got the Other-Seasonal Blues and you’ve got a hankering for some Spring goodness, toss a couple of sprigs into your favorite dish and see what happens!
