“Well we all have to start somewhere, don’t we? I didn’t think about it that much in the beginning, but eventually I thought about goals. ‘A nice beach. Someone’s garden. Sun-soaked and fresh air. That’s the ticket!’ At least that’s what I’d hoped. I didn’t exactly expect this, smack dap in the middle of an eight lane highway. Sure I’ve got the sun, but the exhaust fumes are noxious and the noise! How the hell do they expect anyone to get any peace around here?! I wish they’d cut the stupid tie that’s got me all bunched up on top. I got one frond free, but broke another trying to stretch. What the hell?!”
“I guess it could be worse. The neighbor kid got shipped off to a mall out in the suburbs. I heard they were going to stick him by himself in the middle of a food court on the inside of the place. That’s just gotta suck. At least here I’ve got neighbors to share the grief with and I don’t have to worry about dogs coming long constantly christening my trunk.”
“This didn’t exactly turn out like I thought it would, but I guess I shouldn’t complain. Besides, this is just the beginning. The view’s not bad. There’s the occasional seagull. Maybe I’ll get used to the noise and smell. Maybe I’ll end up liking it. Could somebody please get over here and cut this stupid tie off!”
